UK Tour - April, May 2006
The Dizengoff Quilt was taken to the UK for a highly successful tour of six engagements in London and Manchester.
The tour started with Marlyn addressing a group of retired professionals at an afternoon meeting of the Thursday Club in Manchester, and then to a joint meeting of Manchester community members at the Yeshurun Synagogue in Gatley, later that evening. At both venues, the audiences were literally speechless for a number of minutes after Marlyn finished her presentation - awed and amazed at the power of the Quilt and the story of personal healing behind it.
Similar reactions were recorded at the four London venues - the first being a Shabbat morning address to more than 100 members of the Finchley Orthodox Community (Kinloss), where Marlyn spoke from the "Bimah" after services.
At the Radlett Community Center, North London, Marlyn was keynote speaker for the close of Yom Hazikaron (Day of Rememberance for Israel's Fallen): in a moving address to more than 200 people, she described the motivation for the production of the quilt and gave the personal stories of each of the victims.
The audience was similarly astounded at the story and the beauty of the quilt and the message of which Marlyn brought.
The next day the Quilt was presented to AISH in the CIty, an outreach program for young Jewish professionals in the City (London's financial and professional district).
The following Shabbat once again saw Marlyn take the "Bimah" at theNew North London Conservative Congregation in Finchley, where she presented the Quilt and its story as the Shabbat Sermon to nearly 300 people. The congregation was similarly amazed at the message Marlyn brought.
